County Teams
Tournaments: The South Wales County Padel Teams currently compete in the annual UK Padel County Championships which are held throughout the year. We also organise friendly matches with other LTA County Teams on an ad hoc basis.
UK Padel County Championship Tournament Structure
UK PAdel County Championship are held through the year for specific age categories Open, over 40, over 50 and over 60. Each Tounrnament includes events for Ladies, Men and Mixed teams. South Wales compete against all LTA Counties (34 or more counties) over a single weekend. A group stage of 4 or 5 teams (round robin) is followed by quarter final, semi final and final rounds.
Team: Each county can bring 4-6 men and ladies to compete across all of the events.
Match Structure: Each match comprises 2 pairs from each county playing at the same time (1v1 & 2v2) no two adjacent courts. If a match results in a draw (1 pair loses, one pair wins), one player from each pair form a pair and will play a Match Tie break to determine the winning county.
Eligibility: Players must meet the eligibility criteria to take part in the Welsh Squad.
Selection: The selection process for the South Wales County Team is facilitated by the National Team Manager. The process will build on the National Welsh Team Selection process, supported by ongoing development and training events throughout the year.
Training and preparation: Training and tournament preparation for the South Wales County squad is facilitated by the Team Manager, supported by senior members of the Wales National Squad..
